- Advanced computing areas such as distributed computing, the internet of things, and artificial intelligence are becoming ubiquitous topics in our daily lives. However, they are typically not being taught in K-12 classrooms due to their traditional complexity. To address this, we introduce a collection of tools and a full year-long high school curriculum called CS Frontiers (CSF) which is able to introduce these subjects at a high level without requiring any prior programming experience. Because of this, our curriculum can, and has been used as a drop-in model for a full-fledged year-long CS course which can simultaneously satisfy the requirement of a mandated CS class offering, as well as provide students with highly-engaging projects in real-world areas of the frontiers of computing. Our tools and curriculum are free and open source, with optional paid PD and support for technical issues and/or assistance with personalizing content to specific students’ interests.
